The 1st day of spring in Saskatoon carried rain clouds, making for a less than ideal Sunday after a few days of melting snow in the sun.
During a walk along the South Saskatchewan River, Franco Paul said, “If I knew it would rain like this, I would have worn a jacket.”
On Sunday, Paul and Katherine Milan were two of the few people who braved the rain.

Milan returned from a month-long vacation in South Africa at the beginning of March. The city’s ever-changing weather has her wishing she was still there, basking in temperatures of 30 degrees Celsius.
“It was tough coming back to -40 C, so I’m looking forward to spring and summer,” Milan said.
That was the general sentiment over the weekend, as some people didn’t want to think about how difficult the winter had been.

“Even just going to the dog park to appreciate the sunshine, the days with a little more sunshine, feeling the sun in the backyard as well as watching things start to melt,” she says. “It’s pretty cool,” Kimberly Olfert said, referring to the aspects of spring that she enjoys the most.
According to Environment Canada meteorologist Sandy Massey, the usual highs for this time of year are around three degrees. Still, as with most wild weather days in Saskatchewan, things could change quickly.
